We are a Catholic Faith Community, dedicated to providing each student entrusted to our care with an education rooted in the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, in partnership with home, parish and society, our schools foster the growth of responsible citizens who will live, celebrate and proclaim their faith. Our Catholic Faith is the foundation of all that we do.
The Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division No. 4 officially came into existence on December 30, 1994. The school division was created as a result of the voluntary regionalization of five (5) Catholic school boards in the communities of Coaldale, Lethbridge, Picture Butte, Pincher Creek and Taber. On September 1, 2014 the Bow Island Catholic School District also joined the division. In 2019, the name of the name of the school division was changed, by Ministerial Order, to "The Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division."
There are 16 schools and 1 outreach centre in the division. Early learning programming is also offered in 11 of the 12 elementary schools to 232 children. Currently, Holy Spirit Catholic School Division employs approximately 600 staff in a wide variety of full and part time positions and in various capacities.
The division's central office is housed in the St. Basil Catholic Education Centre (SBCEC). Daily administration is carried out by the Superintendent, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer to the Board. The Superintendent is assisted by an administrative team consisting of the Deputy Superintendent, Secretary Treasurer, Director of Support Services, Director of Learning, Director of Religious Education, and Director of Finance.
Student population is growing with projected enrolment for the upcoming year of 5400. The Division’s operating budget for 2024/2025 is approximately 70 million dollars.
The region’s economic base is provided by agriculture, tourism, various light industries and government services. The area features diverse landscapes and recreational areas providing opportunities, including camping, hiking, skiing, fishing, and other summer and winter endeavours.
The Board seeks an authentic faith-filled Catholic to lead this growing Division. Successful leadership experience in a broad range of positions including the principalship and central office experience is required.
The successful candidate must qualify for Alberta teaching certification, hold a Master’s degree, and hold or be in a position to qualify for Alberta Leadership Certification and Superintendent Leadership Certification.
